With this modification, your M52B25 or M52B28 engine will make more power.
The M52B25 and M52B28 engine can be found in the E36, E39, E38, and in some early BMW E46 models. It is not the easiest modification, but if you are at least a little handy, it is not difficult. Some people say that this will gain an additional 20HP, while some say it won’t give you any. I believe that there are power benefits.
In the picture below, you see on the left an M52 intake, and on the right, an M50 intake. Continue reading →
My name is Diederik, 21 years old and I am a mechanical engineer student with a passion for cars. When I was searching for more information about the BMW E39 M5 I found this website and registered myself for the future.
At the moment I drive a BMW E36 323i MT coupe in Hellrot with some modifications and a Volvo 855 Turbo AT in Beige Metallic. Continue reading →
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had a strong interest on cars. My dad’s a Captain in a ship so he travels a lot. He used to go to different places and get remote control cars for me. Often times he would get me Mercedes Benz and BMWs. I’ve had a strong interest in German cars. Continue reading →
There comes a point in time when people decide that they want to make a change in life. For me, that change was owning a BMW. The first I heard of BMW’s was as a kid going to the auto show with my father, and grandfather. Continue reading →
For as long as I can remember, I’ve held a strong interest in cars, though my parents accredit that to a toy school bus I had as a toddler. After I turned four, I would point to cars on the road and ask my dad what they were. His limited automotive knowledge meant that every SUV was a Jeep to me; everything else was a mishmash. Through clipping pictures of nice cars out of magazines, collecting Hot Wheels sized cars, and reading the undercarriage for the label, I started to form a vague understanding of what I was seeing on the road.
The BMW E39 5-series was produced from 09/1995-06/2003 for the 1996-2003 model years. In September of 2000, for the 2001 model year, BMW gave the E39 a facelift. This means that the E39 chassis was updated, renewed both technologically and aesthetically for a few more years of production.
Even outside of the big 2001 facelift, things with the E39 changed each year. This article will summarize the changes BMW made to US-spec vehicles throughout production. Continue reading →
We thought it may be rather amusing to put together a little video dedicated to BMW E39 owners. The three of us, listed below, are from E39Source and compiled the video together. Give it a watch, and see if anything sounds familiar to you as a BMW owner! Continue reading →
Picture a huge space filled with BMWs. Better yet- throw tons of E39 M5s in that lot. This is what is known as Timmayfest. A large number of E39Source’s contributors and Administrators will be attending, in somewhat of a gathering. We invite any and all viewers and/or contributors to E39Source to attend, if nothing else, just to say hi and see the cars that you’ve read about and watched. Allow me to break it down: Continue reading →
Today I installed very lightly used carpeting into the trunk of my 2001 BMW 540i/6. The carpeting that was in the vehicle was in very poor condition due to abuse and lack of knowledge by the previous owner.
Objective: This article will detail the replacement of the manual shift knob found in a BMW E39 5-series. A video of wiring an M5 shift knob is embedded at the bottom, as well as wiring an M shift knob into a non-M BMW.
